Graduate Degree Programs

The IU School of Medicine Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology offers graduate-level education programs leading to Master’s and PhD degrees as well as a PhD minor. All PhD applicants apply to the Indiana Biomedical Gateway Program, as first-year PhD students participate in a shared experience before selecting a specific scientific program.

In addition to a primary course of study, PhD students can pursue additional academic interests through a PhD minor program. Many of the IU School of Medicine minor programs for PhD students align with areas of specialized research, including the Diabetes and Obesity Research Training Program, which is affiliated with the Center for Diabetes and Metabolic Diseases.
