Parker Schroll memorial fund to support brain injury research at IU School of Medicine

Grandparents established the Parker Joseph Schroll Traumatic Brain Injury Fund at IU School of Medicine to support research, education and clinical care in TBI through the work of brain injury expert Flora Hammond, MD. Clem and Denice Schroll want something good to come from their family's tragedy.

CHAP trial earns award

A study co-authored by an Indiana University School of Medicine faculty member, which showed treating even mild preexisting high blood pressure during pregnancy improves maternal and fetal outcomes, has been named Clinical Trial of the Year by the Society of Clinical Trials (SCT). The Chronic Hypertension and Pregnancy (CHAP) trial was given the David Sackett Trial of the Year award by SCT, a celebrated international organization of professional researchers. The award is given annually to the leaders of one randomized, controlled study that has provided a substantial change to the healthcare field.

OB-GYN Department ranks 11th in NIH Funding, Quinney 5th among OB-GYN researchers

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Indiana University School of Medicine is ranked No. 11 in 2022 – up from No. 42 in 2015 – and researcher Sara Quinney, PhD, is the fifth highest funded researcher in an OB-GYN department, according to data compiled by the Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research.

2023 Physician Mentor of the Year offers holistic support to first-year medical students

Jonathan D. Walker, MD, has been an adjunct clinical assistant professor of ophthalmology at IU School of Medicine-Fort Wayne for 26 years. Walker has been named the 2023 Physician Mentor of the Year, nominated by all four of the first-year medical students he is currently mentoring.
