She started her career with Indiana University in 2005, working as a full-time executive assistant for the Faculty Academy on Excellence in Teaching, or FACET program. At the time, she was a full-time student in the Kelley School of Business and a single parent, determined to create the best future for herself and her children.
Nearly 20 years later, she’s still working for IU, and has earned the role of Director of Finance and Administration in the IU School of Medicine Department of Medicine. She calls herself a lifelong learner, who is always looking out for new ways to grow.
Kissee earned her bachelor’s degree in finance and accounting in 2008. She got to work on a master’s in accounting soon after graduating and was awarded the degree in 2012.
An opportunity as an Assistant Business Manager in the Department of Medicine’s Chair’s Office came available in 2011, and she has proudly served the Department of Medicine in various business and finance roles ever since.
As director of finance and administration, Kissee works closely with the division administrators, business managers, central administration and others to provide leadership and direction. She is always seeking out and eager to participate in professional development opportunities so that she can apply those lessons in her daily work.
“I enjoy working with everyone, receiving feedback regarding processes and efficiencies, serving as a central repository of information, continually learning from my own and others’ experiences, and helping others where I am able,” she said.
Kissee and her husband, Adam, met in 2009 and were married in 2011. They live in Franklin, and together have three boys, ages 17 to 25.
In her spare time, she enjoys jogging on the trails in her town, country line dancing with her parents, taking her 67 GTO to car shows, climbing obstacles and off-roading in her family jeep, and participating in events to raise funds for various causes.
