Leadership in Academic Medicine Program (LAMP)

The Leadership in Academic Medicine Program (LAMP) is intended for early-career faculty in their second and third years of appointment. Enrollment is limited to provide individualized support for academic objectives and career development.

  • Maintaining Balance in Your Work
  • Discovering Your Strengths
  • Individual Career-Development Consulting Session

Topics may change based on feedback from previous participants and speaker availability.

Time Commitment

Due to the time investment required for LAMP, all applicants must solicit a letter of support from their chairs or division directors. LAMP participants are expected to attend all nine sessions during the academic year. These sessions take place in person from 1 to 4 p.m. on the following dates.


2024–2025 LAMP session dates

  • Wednesday, Sep. 18
  • Thursday, Oct. 17
  • Wednesday, Nov. 20
  • Thursday, Dec. 12
  • Wednesday, Jan. 15
  • Thursday, Feb. 13
  • Various dates in March 2025 — Individual career consultations
  • Wednesday, April 23
  • Wednesday, May 21 — Graduation

How to Apply

To be considered for the 2024–2025 cohort, please submit your application by June 30.

Your application package must include:

  1. Goal Statement and Reason for LAMP — a one-page document describing your career goals, what you hope to accomplish in the next three years and why you are interested in LAMP
  2. Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  3. Nomination Letter — a brief letter of support written and signed by your unit lead (i.e., department chair or division director), indicating willingness to release you to participate in program activities

The Leadership in Academic Medicine Program (LAMP) is a year-long, cohort-based faculty development and orientation program for faculty in the second and third years of their appointment. The seminars introduce participants to the fundamentals of career planning, self-management and leadership skills. As a result of this program faculty have tools that will enable them to accomplish their primary career goals and aspirations.

Any faculty in their second and third years of their appointment may apply to be a member of a LAMP cohort.
