The Internal Medicine Residency program operates on a 13, four-week block schedule.

PGY-1

2 blocks: ICU
5 blocks: Wards
1 block: ER
1 block: Cardiology
½ block: Geriatrics
3 ½ blocks: Electives

PGY-2

2 blocks: ICU
4 blocks: Wards
1 block: Cardiology
6 blocks: Electives

PGY-3

2 blocks: ICU
3 blocks: Wards
1 block: Psychiatry
7 blocks: Electives

Residents must have one block of Infectious Disease and one block of Hematology/Oncology at some point during residency. Residents may not spend more than two blocks on the same elective in one year or three blocks on the same elective during the residency. Exceptions to this rule may be approved by the program director.
