Lung Cancer

Pulmonologists at IU School of Medicine provide care for patients throughout the lung cancer spectrum, from those at risk to those diagnosed with and being treated for lung cancer.

We support lung cancer screening through IU Health, Eskenazi and the Richard L. Roudebush (Indianapolis) VA Medical Center hospitals. Through our multidisciplinary IU Thoracic Oncology Program (TOP), Eskenazi pulmonary and Indianapolis VA Pulmonary Oncology/Pulmonary Nodule clinics and through nodule review and tumor boards, our pulmonologists collaborate with other services to provide comprehensive care to lung cancer patients. We work with oncologists in testing for lung cancer molecular biomarkers to ensure our patients receive the most effective personalized treatments, and we diagnose and treat complications of cancer treatment, including pneumonitis from immunotherapies. Our pulmonary oncology team provides opportunities to participate in cutting-edge clinical trials offered through the IU Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center and Indianapolis VA medical centers.

Our interventional pulmonology program ensures that patients benefit from a wide array of modalities to improve lung cancer diagnosis and local treatment options, including endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS), navigational and robotic bronchoscopy, tumor debulking, fiducial markers, endobronchial stent and valve placement.
