Fourth-Year Electives

In addition to completing the required Phase Three rotations, medical students at IU School of Medicine have opportunities to tailor their final year by completing seven four-week electives to round out their training and experiences. These electives include a minimum of four clinical electives (of which at least one is categorized as an advanced clinical elective). The additional three electives can be in the areas of professional development, advanced science research or clinical practice to enhance each student’s skill set. Up to three away electives are also allowed as part of the required seven.
